SEAI has introduced a dedicated Windows and Doors Grant under the Better Energy Homes scheme.

Grant Amounts for Windows

The funding depends on your property type: 

  • Detached House: Up to €4,000
  • Semi-Detached / End of Terrace: Up to €3,000
  • Mid-Terrace House: Up to €1,800
  • Apartment: Up to €1,500
  • External Doors: Additional €800 per door (capped at 2 doors)

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, your home must meet specific energy performance standards:

  • Property Age: Built and occupied before 2011.
  • Insulation First: You must have "Good" or "Very Good" attic and wall insulation before applying for windows. If you lack this, you can apply for Insulation Grants simultaneously.
  • Performance: New windows must have a U-value of 1.4 W/m²K or better.
  • Pre-Consultation : Its advised to consult an (BER) consultant to value your property and help apply for any grants available.
  • Post-Works BER: You must complete a Building Energy Rating (BER) after installation to prove your home meets a Heat Loss Indicator (HLI) of < 2.3.

How to Apply (Starting March 2, 2026)

  1. Find a Contractor: Select an SEAI Registered Contractor and get a quote.
  2. Apply Online: Use the SEAI Online Portal to get a grant offer before starting any work.
  3. Complete Works: Install the windows and then have a registered assessor conduct your post-works BER.
  4. Payment: Submit your Request for Payment form; grants are typically paid within 4-6 weeks
